Murugesan chose to fight earlier, before the damage became irreversible. That decision became the Blue India Movement, a Blue Zone inspired mission built to add 10 to 20 healthy years to every Indian life.
In Puducherry, the movement has already taken action on the ground with a ₹30 Crore philanthropic initiative that delivered free insulin screening to 100,000 citizens, catching hidden risks before symptoms ever appeared. Because when diabetes and hypertension are detected early, kidney failure can often be prevented. Blue India is not just a health campaign, it is a blueprint for a healthier Puducherry today, and a stronger India tomorrow.

With over four decades of experience in nephrology, Dr. Murugesan has dedicated his life to transforming kidney care, from treatment to prevention. Trained under Padma Vibhushan Dr. M.K. Mani, he pioneered nephrology and transplant services in Puducherry, started the region’s first interventional nephrology unit, and built East Coast Hospitals with one mission in mind: to bring world-class care home.
